Description
A Free For All links or FFA is a site that allows visitors to add their own links to appear live online in real-time.
Features
Easy addition of new links.
Administrator has ability to delete links.
Rotating Sponsors in list page.
Gathers Email address of those that submit.
Installation
Configuration
- The config.pl file contains several variables that will need editing before the script will run on your server.
- $tmpldir = "/home/user/html/ffa/templates";
The path to the directory that will contain you template files.
A temporary directory, which the web server has write access too.
- $spondb = "/home/user/html/ffa/data/spon.txt";
The path to you sponsors database.
- $dbfile = "/home/user/html/ffa/data/links.txt";
This file will contain your links database.
- $emdir = "/home/user/html/ffa/emails";
This path contains your email templates.
If this option is set to 1 the script will log all email addresses submitted with links.
- $emdb = "/home/user/html/ffa/data/emails.txt";
Change this to the path you’d like the email database to be stored.
If this option is set to 1 the text in $emdir/fl_addok.txt will be emailed to the user adding a new site.
- $sendmail = "/usr/sbin/sendmail";
Enter your path to sendmail.
- Change this number to adjust how often your sponsor URLs are displayed.
- Next you will need to edit $emdir/fl_addok.txt so that it contains the text you’d like to email to users adding a new site.
- Edit HTML in the templates directory to customise the look and feel of the links pages.
Uploading
Create a directory for the script on your server, which must have CGI access.
Upload all files in ASCII mode.
CHMOD .CGI files to 755.
CHMOD all files in the data directory to 666.
Running
To add new links and view the list open viewlinks.cgi in your web-browser, if you need to remove links use the viewlinks.cgi in the admin directory.
