Description
The simplest, fastest and easiest traffic trading script you’ll find. Allows for control and tracking of hits sent and received from and by people you are trading links with.
Features
Easy addition of new trades.
Allows for weighting of one trade relative to another.
Sends overflow hits to a URL of your choice.
Installation
Path to Perl
#!/usr/bin/perl
The script uses the most common path to Perl however if the script doesn’t run for you, you may have to change the first line of each cgi and pm file.
Configuration
- The config.txt file contains several variables that will need editing before the script will run on your server.
- out_url=http://www.yoursite.com
The URL of where you’d like in.cgi to send traffic after it is counted.
Do not include the trailing slash.
- base_url=http://www.yourdomain.com
This is the URL of the domain Link Master is installed on.
Do not include the trailing slash.
- script_url=http:// www.yourdomain.com/linkmaster
Insert the full URL of the directory that contains Link Master.
Do not include the trailing slash.
- data_path=/home/user/linkmasterdata
This file will contain your Link Master database.
It’s a good idea to create this path outside of the public viewable area of your webspace.
Do not include the trailing slash.
- siteurl=http://255.255.255.255/
Uncomment this line and insert your domains IP if the webserver or TGP is unable to resolve your domainname.
Uploading
Create a directory for the script on your server, which must have CGI access.
Upload all files in ASCII mode.
CHMOD .CGI files to 755.
CHMOD all both the data directory and the files it contains to 777.
Running
Open admin.cgi in your web-browser and enter an administrator’s password to be used in future.
Adding Affiliates/Trades
In the "Add an Affiliate" section, enter data as follows, then click "Add"
- ID:
Enter a number to be used to identify the affiliate, this must be unique.
- Weight:
This number controls the frequency at which this affiliate is chosen to receive a hit. An affiliate with a weight twice as much as another will receive twice as many hits.
- Max Hits:
The maximum number of hits that you will send out to the affiliate. If you wish to send unlimited hits to this affiliate set this field to 0.
- URL:
This is the URL to which hits will be sent.
Updating/Deleting Affiliates
To edit or delete a certain trade make the appropriate changes in the top section of the page (where each affiliate/trade is listed) and hit the "Update" button. If you wish to delete an entry simply select the "Delete" checkbox and hit "Update"
Sending and Receiving Traffic
When affiliates send you traffic they must send it via the in.cgi file. To do this they use a special and unique link code.
http://www.yourdomain.com/linkmaster/in.cgi?affiliate=IDNUM
Where IDNUM would be the unique ID you gave that affiliate.
To send traffic out make a link to out.cgi and this will control where the hit is sent based on the settings you have specified.
